Dr. Pradip Gyanwali is a prominent health researcher in Nepal, recognized for his extensive contributions to the study of herbal medicinal plants. He holds an MBBS and an MD in Clinical Pharmacology from the Institute of Medicine (IOM), Tribhuvan University (TU), Nepal. Dr. Gyanwali has been instrumental in establishing the Nepalese Medicinal Plants Registry (NMPR) and advancing medicinal cannabis research in Nepal. With over two decades of experience, he has published more than 100 research papers in reputable national and international journals. His work has earned him several prestigious awards, including the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology Award and the Nepal Academy of Medical Sciences Award. Additionally, he was honored by the Government of Nepal for his efforts in health emergency preparedness during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Gyanwali’s significant publications include a comparative study on temperature recording methods in a tertiary hospital of Nepal, published in the Journal of Nepal Health Research Council, and research on joint pain prevalence and associated factors in Nepal, featured in BMJ Open. He has also contributed to key studies on COVID-19 treatments, including the use of colchicine and aspirin, published in The Lancet. His work on the global burden of stroke, published in The Lancet Neurology, and his involvement in COVID-19 treatment studies in resource-limited settings, published in Open Forum Infectious Diseases, highlight his broad research impact. Other notable publications include studies on non-communicable diseases risk factors, COVID-19 pharmacological treatments, and the preparedness of Nepal’s health system for pandemic response.
